How Can We Help the President?
What if I don’t like him? There’s no problem if I like him? But what if I like him but I don’t agree with him?
Well, if I don’t like him, then I don’t have to. But the Bible says we should respect, pray & help our leaders. Our choice, obey God or do what you like.
By John Gaisano
But what if I like him, how may I help him? The how depends where you are, inside his cabinet or outside like most of us. It’s simpler when we’re out. Just communicate openly like social media. Write to inform & to suggest so he may know what’s going on out here & he may consider your suggestion. All if not most presidents, are isolated from the public though they are public figure. They have many means of getting information but the unending job of going around the country, meetings after meetings, speaking in conferences, thousands of people want to talk to him & have pictures with him, cabinet meetings to discuss & decide critical issues that affect our country, and much more. All these will wear down even the strongest athlete as these requires both body & mind. And all these actually prevent him from getting relevant information for many critical decisions.
So what can we do? Tell him through open communication (with respect) like what I do now. Will he read it? May be not. But I really don’t know. He has little or no time if he will not allocate time to read & study, & he must choose what to read, like former Pres. Marcos, former Pres. Ramos, & former Pres. GMA. They are quite intelligent, most hardworking, deliberate, discipline, & open to learn & improve. If a president will not take time to get critical information, use a systematic way of gathering honest news & information, he will be subjected & limited to information from people around him, who may not provide, or withhold, the right & relevant information. Under this situation the president will be under the control of the men around him without knowing.
Few things that often happen to a president. People around him, feeds him wrong information simply because these men has limited network, limited perspective of the world around us as many comes from Davao & the rest of Mindanao (accustomed to seeing the world from the middle of the mountain but not from the mountain top), or these men have limited network, and if they do, often more concern with making money than serving our people, or they often just agree & cheer the president without providing relevant & wise input critical for policies making & management of our country (life would be simpler then). These are nothing new. Every president has almost the same set of problems.
But there are always some good men, based on my limited knowledge, I think Sec. Dominguez, Sec. Jun Evasco, Sec. Ben Diokno, Sec. Pernia, Sec. Dela Pena, Sec. Ernie Abella, Sec. Andanar, & others I do not know. (Hi there, if some names are not included though they are part of the few good men around the president, don’t feel offended as I may not remember some & do not know the rest.)
What would you do if you’re in the cabinet & you don’t agree? Simple, you present your idea with respect, tell the truth, & obey whatever he decides. He’s your superior. You are not entitled to speak against him in any way if you’re in his cabinet.
Would you help him? Doing so will consequently help our people. Are you willing to help our people? Or should joining benefit you? Hehehe Most men by default serves themselves. It is normal. What is normal, human nature, bring us to another world in the end. What is abnormal, the few, bring us to God.
